Politics in Practise: Career Skills Bootcamp

Greg Eidsness, BA’07 (Political Science) and Henry Han, BA’02 (Political Science) have a combined 25 years of experience in public and private sectors – Henry has worked across all three levels of government and Greg has made a successful transition from public to private vocations. Together they will facilitate this bootcamp geared at Political Science and International Relations students and alumni, demonstrating how they translated their academic and student experiences into dynamic careers. You will participate in a real world case study with your peers and connect with professionals in their industry. Learn how to highlight and showcase your existing skills to prospective employers.

What can I expect at the Bootcamp?
The session will include a team challenge to tackle a public policy issue, create a solution and present to industry professionals. The facilitators will highlight how you will apply your academic and student experiences into your personal and career development.

Session includes:

  • Refreshments and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Vegetarian options are available.

Your Facilitators:

Greg Eidsness, BA’07

Greg Eidsness is an international business specialist and consultant with over a decade of experience working in the public and private sectors. In his current position of Director at International Financial Consulting, Greg leads the firm’s sales and marketing initiatives, as well as projects leveraging his experience in public policy related to international trade.  Prior to joining the company, Greg served as Director of International Market Development at Trade & Invest British Columbia, where he designed and implemented market expansion strategies in Asia, Europe and the United States.  A UBC Arts Co-op program graduate, Greg completed work terms with the Government of Canada, the National University of Singapore and Time Warner Inc. Greg holds a Masters in Public Administration from the London Schools of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.

 

 

Henry Han, BA’02

Henry Han holds over 15 years of international experience across all three levels of Government in Canada having worked in progressive managerial roles. He has worked overseas in both Beijing and Seoul with the Canadian Embassy and across Canada in Ottawa, Victoria and Vancouver. He has touched a number of files from immigration, intergovernmental relations, to trade and investment. During his time with the Ministry of International Trade he was responsible for BC’s trade and investment offices. In his current role as Regional Director Government Relations with the Canadian Credit Union Association Henry leads on all Government relations advocacy work for all 42 credit unions in the Province.
