About

Leah Shipton is a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia Department of Political Science with eight years of research and professional experience in various areas of global and public health. This includes works based in Canada, Pakistan, and the World Health Organization headquarters in Switzerland. Currently, Leah’s research interests broadly focus on global health governance of corporations, in particular, extractive industries and the impact of these industries on health and human rights. Beyond research and teaching, Leah enjoys soccer, reading, learning Spanish and Italian, and hiking.
