Undergraduate Awards
Robert Lorne Stanfield Prize in Political Science
$200 awarded to a student with an outstanding record in Political Science (one of the highest overall GPAs)

Akanksha Stevens Prize in Political Science
$500 to an outstanding graduating student in Political Science (one of the highest overall GPAs)
Winner: Tanvi Bhatia
Kevin Wells Prize
A $400 prize has been endowed by friends to honour the memory of Kevin Wells, a UBC student in political science who died prematurely in 1981. The prize is awarded to a student studying Canadian politics who best combines academic achievement and community service.

Hector Gordon Munro Scholarship in Political Science
$1,100 awarded to an outstanding graduating student in the Political Science Major program (one of the highest overall GPAs)

Jean Laponce Prize
Awards the student with the best Political Science Honours thesis of the year

“The Populist Puzzle: Mainstream Party Strategies as Determinants of European Right-wing Populist Electoral Fortunes”
Carolyn Atwell Memorial Prize (Essay Prize)
$200 prize endowed by friends to honour the memory of Carolyn Atwell, a UBC student in Honours POLI Sci who died in 1990 for the best essay on some aspect of third world development in a political science or IR course.

“A Tale of Two Knights: The Effects of Chinese and Russian Trade Linkages on African Political Regimes”
Political Science Gold Medal & the Department of Political Science Scholarship
A gold medal is presented to the most outstanding student in the graduating class. The recipient also receives a $1,400 Political Science Scholarship
