Welcome to Postdoctoral fellow Simon Lambek

Simon Lambek

UBC Political Science is excited to welcome Dr. Simon Lambek as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Simon will be completing his post-doc under the supervision of Dr. Mark Warren.

At UBC, Simon will begin a project investigating the constitutive effects of public debate on contemporary democracies, drawing from critical, democratic and hermeneutic theory.

Simon Lambek is a political theorist whose research focuses on modern and contemporary political thought. His work explores rhetoric’s ability to alter interpretive horizons and expand reflective judgment in political life. He received his PhD in 2020 from the University of Toronto’s Department of Political Science and taught at Vanderbilt University prior to coming to UBC. An article on Nietzsche’s use of rhetoric is forthcoming at Epoché: A Journal for the History of Philosophy.
